A On August 3, at the summer music series, Friday Night Live, the Cloverdale Arts Alliance presents French Gypsy/funk band, Dgiin, a group well-known to its hometown audience of Sonoma County. Dgiin, pronounced “gin,” comes from the word for a mischievious spirit that is sometimes confined to a bottle because of its playful acts. With band members’ past experience in reggae, funk, jazz and pop, Dgiin puts on an energetic and memorable show, accessible to all types of tastes and ages.

Dgiin began seven years ago in Santa Rosa with French-born, guitarist/vocalist Gabe. He was influenced by many musical styles as he traveled the world. Eventually, he moved to California with his sister, Mimi, and began putting a band together. Today, the band has evolved to include Paget on drums, J.D. on accordian, Jimmy “the Inch” on a wailing sax, and “Drrrty” Chris on electric bass. Vocals are sung primarily in French. C’est magnifique!
