Beverley McChesney

Primarily semi-abstract and acrylic, my work focuses first on form. Richard Diebenkorn’s lush colors in layers with strong lines have greatly influenced my thinking.   A number of late-twentieth century painters have opened my mind to playing with reality and fantasy, an area which I am just beginning to explore.   Figures are another interest of mine in painting and drawing, particularly human interaction.   Driven by texture, layered color, and large-block composition, I tend to abstract figures to basic shapes.   In this area I have been influenced most by Andrei Wilenius.

My work is still formative,   and hopefully, it always will be.
