Exhibit Selection Committee
This juried exhibit features the best of numerous high-quality works submitted by professional sculptors from across the region. The selection committee for the 2012 Cloverdale Sculpture Exhibit consists of:
- Michael Schwager, Professor of Art History and Museum Studies and Director of the University Art Gallery at Sonoma State University, and former curator at the di Rosa Preserve in Napa.
- M.C.Carolyn, sculptor working in stone, bronze, and foam with epoxy coatings. She creates both large public art sculptures and gallery pieces.
- Warren Arnold, artist renown for large stone sculptures such as "The Whale Project", an installation of totems along the coast, founder of Sculpture Jam and board member of the Sebastopol Center for the Arts.
Judges
Our judges launch the exhibit on opening day and award Best of Show and Honorable Mention designations. This year, we are honored to have as judges:
- Jennifer Bethke, art historian and art curator, who received her PhD in art history from UC Berkeley, curator of education at the Sonoma County Museum in Santa Rosa, CA.
- Brigitte Micmacker, owner, director and curator of A New Leaf Gallery / Sculpturesite, representing 75 modern and contemporary sculptors in Sonoma and on the web.
- Spring Maxfield, art curator with a BA in both Art History and Fine Arts from Sonoma State University and an MA in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University, event planner and co-founder of the Handcar Regatta.
