On Thursday, January 3, the Paul McCandless/Christian Foley Beining Collaboration to usher in the new year at THE Jazz Club in Cloverdale.
Known for soaring lyricism and gorgeous compositions, GRAMMY award-winning McCandless has served as co-leader of the jazz super-group, Oregon, for more than 45 years. McCandless plays soprano, tenor, and sopranino saxophones, oboes, English horn, bass clarinet, penny whistles, and a collection of folk flutes. As a band leader, he has released 30 records.
Hosted by the Cloverdale Arts Alliance, McCandless will be joined at THE Jazz Club by guitarist Christian Foley-Beining, who studied guitar at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. He then later refined his playing at the Berklee School of Music in Boston and the Musicians Institute's GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology) in Hollywood. He has recorded and performed with many well-known musicians like Randy Porter, Bob Magnusson, Jim Plank, Harvie Swartz, John Guerin, Frank Gambale, Mike Shapiro, Putter Smith, Carlos Niehues, and Lorca Hart.
The collaboration is rounded out by Tom Shader on bass and Tom Hayashi on drums.
THE Jazz Club is presented at the Cloverdale Arts Alliance Gallery, which is located at 204 N. Cloverdale Blvd. Tickets are $15 for Cloverdale Arts Alliance members and $20 for non-members. Doors open at 7:00 pm; music begins at 7:30 pm. THE Jazz Club takes place the first Thursday of each month from October through May. The wine sponsor for THE Jazz Club is Rodney Strong Vineyards.

THE Jazz Club is a program of the Cloverdale Arts Alliance, a non-profit arts organization bringing cultural arts to northern Sonoma County.
