THE Jazz Club

The Ray Obiedo Group to Jazz it Up in Cloverdale, March 2

Cloverdale Arts Alliance presents THE Jazz Club first Thursdays, October to May

Never has jazz guitarist Obiedo’s genuine lifelong affection for the San Francisco Bay Area’s unique musical personality been more clearly evident or remarkably celebrated than in his newest CD “Latin Jazz Project Vol 1”, released nationwide on the Rhythmus Records label. He has steadily emerged as one of the most originally expressive and exciting contemporary jazz talents of the decade with a delightfully distinct Bay Area flavor.

Obiedo’s solo compositions have attracted acclaim and have seen interpretations from Tower of Power, Sheila E, Marion Meadows, steel pan great Andy Narell, jazz guitarist Bruce Forman and The Pete Escovedo Orchestra. Parts of his work have appeared on film soundtracks, most notably Michael Caine’s “A Shock to the System’ and Richard Gere’s “Internal Affairs.”

Hosted by the Cloverdale Arts Alliance, Obiedo will be joined at THE Jazz Club by pianist Peter Horvath, drummer Colin Douglas, Phil Hawkins on steel pans, and David Belove on bass.

Hosted by the Cloverdale Arts Alliance, McCandless will be joined at THE Jazz Club by Charged Particles: pianist Murray Low, bass player Aaron Germain, and drummer Jon Krosnick. The collaboration infuses McCandless’ repertoire of original compositions with a fresh twist and new energy.

The group premiered their collaboration on the main stage at the famed jazz club Yoshi’s San Francisco in 2014.  Since then, high points for the group have included opening the main stage performances at the 2015 San Luis Obispo Jazz Festival and closing the Portola Vineyards Summer Concert Series.

Doors open at 7:00 PM and the show starts at 7:30.  To receive reserved seating privileges purchase advance tickets online at or at the Cloverdale Arts Alliance during normal business hours. Tickets are available at the door.

THE Jazz Club is a program of the Cloverdale Arts Alliance, a non-profit arts organization bringing cultural arts to northern Sonoma County.
