The Latin Percussion workshop will offer folks an overview on the major Latin percussion instruments and forms: son, salsa, Latin jazz, and samba music. Folks will get an opportunity to listen and play along to classic songs from Cal Tjader, Ray Barretto, Tito Puente, and Willie Bobo.  Instructors will discuss and share techniquesusing congas, bongos, timbales, and additional percussion instruments. Song forms, team work, solo techniques, and musicianship will also be covered.

The workshop is intended to provide a good foundation to all musicians and aspiring musicians on Latin Percussion and developing a good sense of rhythm/timing while having fun in a conducive learning environment!

Ages: Adults, teens

Instruments: Congas, bongos, timbales, claves, cowbell, and other minor percussion instruments. Bring your instruments!

Musical Styles: Latin grooves typical of son, salsa, Latin jazz and samba

Location, Day and Time: Art Gallery, Sunday November 16 6:00-8:00pm.  The workshop will meet monthly.
