J. Plank (Jeff Plankenhorn) is a BC-based, internationally touring singer-songwriter and master of the lap steel guitar. With soulful vocals, dynamic stagecraft, and a sound that bridges roots, blues, and folk, he has spent decades captivating audiences across North America, Europe, and Japan — earning acclaim as both a solo artist and sought-after session player.
In 2025, he released The Bend, a stripped-down solo acoustic album recorded on the Texas coast featuring just his voice, lap steel, acoustic guitar, and piano. Later this year he follows it with a high-energy roots rock album recorded in the Netherlands with The Southern Aces — live-off-the-floor energy, wizardly guitar playing, and deep groove.
Plank's career includes headline festival slots, collaborations across genres, and multiple Austin Music Award nominations for Musician of the Year and Best Guitarist — plus a win for Best Misc. Instrument for "The Plank," a hybrid lap steel he designed himself. For him, music is about bringing people together — biker or drag queen, listener or dancer — to share in the joy that only a great song can deliver.
